Good things that have happened at La Vida

Good things that have happened at La Vida in the last 6 months thanks to a few board members and the MPM management company:
  • Landscaping with new rock.
  • Pruned trees and landscaping clean up.
  • Landscapers that actually show up and work ever month.
  • Elections.
  • Improvements on L decking.
  • A 2009 budget.
  • An annual meeting.
  • A clean and functioning pool.
  • Al Leon fired.
  • A plan to finalize Leon's pluming fiasco and move forward
  • Investigation into the money owed to us for the parking lot driveway entry/exit area.
  • Change in collection company to recover unpaid money that has been delinquent for a long time.- Will help to pay for repairs.

NOTICE OF VIOLATION

Today was the last day to have your ballot postmarked to the management company. I can't wait for the new board to get elected so we can get moving on all the issues that need to be addressed. A single well intentioned board member can't make effective change without the support of the entire group... if the group is broken and not functional then your hands are tied - no matter how good your intentions are.
We called and spoke with the city today about a notice that was received. A resident/homeowner called and complained to the city about the walkways on buildings M, N, O and P ... so now La Vida residents are going to be faced with the possibility of having our buildings condemned by the city, and/or massive fines... and more costs -resulting in the HOA having to now pay $5,000 toward a structural engineer to come out and write a report for the city to tell us what we already know! - Things need to be repaired. Yes. Thanks for that.
Do people really understand what it means to have a building condemned? How that will affect their lives and finances? Talk about digging us all into a bigger hole.
I can't wait for the new board to come in and go after all the homeowners that have been delinquent on their HOA dues for years and years.... So that we can pay for the maintenance that has been neglected.

Jerry-rigging the election process.

This slanderous letter has been found posted around our community and is a perfect example of what NOT do when running for your local HOA board. Try to keep the mud slinging at bay. Think about the true reason behind someone running for a seat. 
Anyway I thought I would post the letter that was endorsed by Polivka, Brooks, and Story . My biggest concern with the new board is that they live on site, year round. Jerry lives in Arkansas Brooks lives in California.  We already have trouble with meetings because board members live so far away. We have a better chance of success if we are all on site. We get to see the day to day issues with our community and we act as a "community", not people living miles apart.

We have been out of town and there has been a lot of happenings. Lots of people signed up to be nominated for the new board. Thank goodness we have all been pushing to get these elections going.
I have also heard that some of the nominees have been writing and distributing slanderous letters and have been playing downright dirty tactics to try and discredit the good work that has been happening over the last 8 months. 
20 years of miss-management cannot be turned around overnight. It took 20 years for things to get to this level and it's not magically going to go away and mend itself in a matter of a few months.
Lets work together to set realistic goals about La Vida's future. Hope to see you all at the meeting on Monday the 16th.
Make sure to get your vote in by Monday the 10th to have it counted.

Elections and Annual meeting date.

Dear HOA,
MPM management has scheduled the ANNUAL MEETING / ELECTIONS for February 16th 2009. 
Each homeowner will be receiving a nomination form, followed with a ballot for the occasion.
Please mark this day down on your calendars.

Monday Dec 22nd BUDGET MEETING HAS BEEN POSTPONED

We just were informed tonight by the management company that the meeting has been postponed to Thursday January 8th at 6:00pm in the clubhouse.
Please make sure you get the word out to others that you know might have planned on attending.

HOA meeting

Meeting was cancelled due to lack of quorum. 
It helps when you have more people on the board to make things happen and move thing through faster. I hope that when they meet again in two weeks that we can get everyone together and go over the 2009 budget.

May the next treasurer please STAND!

OK homeowners, you have intimidated the new person who was chipping away to create positive change to step down. Congratulations! But which one of you are going to STAND UP and fill the shoes?!  We still need a Treasurer, we still need someone to sign the checks and work at getting things paid. Will you step forward when the water gets shut off because no one has paid the bill?!
It's easy to point the finger but not so easy to raise it and volunteer. Anything you may have requested is going to continue to be delayed. So in the end the only person you have hurt is the community at large.
I hope you come to the meeting on Thursday with a solution.

Paying your HOA dues

It was announced at a recent board meeting that we have almost $30,000 owed to the HOA in unpaid dues! They never said who the offenders are by name but I was astounded to hear that it is such a large amount. 
That is THEFT! As far as I am concerned we all knew what we were getting into by purchasing a condominium.  
One person said to me that they refuse to pay because they don't agree with the decisions the board makes?!  - Just because I don't agree with all the decisions this Bush Administration makes or that we shouldn't be funding this war -doesn't mean I just stop paying my taxes?!
NOT PAYING = NO VOICE.
you can't vote, you can't be involved so therefor no change.
We have so many smart people in this community, with valid ideas, and a willingness to create change. But because they chose for whatever the reason to not pay they are silenced. 
We have others that comment and point the finger, yet are not willing to stick their necks out or put time in to volunteer to be on the board to get the changes we need made that help the entire community.
How can we turn a new leaf and create the change needed so that we can MOVE FORWARD if we don't all CONTRIBUTE?
I realized today that there are a few people in this community that are doing all they can to create more problems for our community. If they could only turn that negative energy around and put all that time into volunteering, into following through with ideas and into paying their dues then we would all be better off.
DON'T SILENCE YOURSELF. PAY YOUR DUES. GET INVOLVED... LETS MAKE REAL CHANGES!!

You can check this out (click on it) and then if you email MPM management they can send you out the actual file or you can print this and fill it out by hand.
